Guruvandana National High School Basavanagudi – Teachers Alumni meet Bengaluru
Guruvanda Program at National High School Bengaluru
The idea was ignited during a mmet at NHS Excel Trust on preparation for Free Book Donation to Government School, when Sandeep Singh told us that some of his batch mates wish to honor / felicitate the teachers of our Batch ie.., 1982 – 1985.
We found that was something really required to connect with our teachers and seek their blessings, we are what we are because of the school & teachers, Infact every passing out Alumni of schools should have such activities of teachers students connect.
That is how the Guruvandana programme evolved and we formed a small interest group of ALumni and got into the ground work of preparations for the programme.
Each one of us took a task and worked towards this and set a date which is auspicious ie., 11th Aug. 2019 which is just after Gurupoornima
Many of our batch mates, generously came forward to contribute funds ( We are very much thankful to each one of them ) without whose support it would have just been a dream.
All the preparations went on well with some ups and downs which is normal when working for a cause.
Programme Highlights
On the day we all gathered at the venue ( National High School Auditorium ) at 9.30 am and all the invited Gurus / Teachers were just there on time, as they have been practicing this discipline since years in their career.
We were overwhelmed to see many of our teachers after a long gap of over 35 years the were also equally happy to meet us.
After several years we sat in our classrooms identifying the benches, we all felt that it was just a few days before we left the school, even though it is years before.
The programme started with Invocation and Satish took the initiative to be the host of the programme, with his extensive connect with the teachers and happenings in the school, he was able to drive the entire programme in a very organised manner.
All teachers were given opportunity to talk and express their views about programme and share their past experiences with the students.
It was very heartening to see one of the teachers who is now 97 Years, came and participated in the programme and shared his thoughts to the current generations, what he wants them to do / be.
It was very insightful to learn that still the teachers remember some of us by name.
The programme followed with honouring our beloved teachers with a small memento, followed by lunch.
Our sincere thanks to all the teachers and our batch mates who were involved in the programme and made this a successful one.
We plan to make this an annual event going forward and look forward to see more and more students of National High School participate and grow this to be one of the biggest event of the school GURUVANDANA 2020.
